About the Scholarship

Every year, MathCON brings together thousands of math-loving students from across the country—bright, curious minds who have the talent, drive, and potential to shape the future of STEM.

 

But talent alone isn’t enough. Many of these students face financial barriers to pursuing college. That’s why we created the MathCON Future Leaders Scholarship—to support exceptional MathCON finalists as they take their next big step into higher education.

 

Each year, we award a 4-year college scholarship ($2,000 per year) to one outstanding MathCON senior finalist who demonstrates not only mathematical excellence but also leadership, empathy, and a commitment to inspiring others.

 

What This Scholarship Supports

  • Financial Relief: Assists with tuition, books, and STEM enrichment opportunities.
  • Ongoing Engagement: The recipient will serve on the MathCON Alumni Advisory Board, providing insight and support for future events, competitions, and initiatives.
  • Recognition: Honors outstanding academic excellence, leadership, and service within the MathCON community.

 

Meet Our 2025 MathCON Future Leader

Arthur

Arthur Illidge — Purdue University, Mathematics Major

Hometown: Winchester, Massachusetts

 

“Through competitions like MathCON, I’ve found joy in applying the mathematical tools I’ve learned toward forming challenging problems and creative solutions. MathCON helped me see how much artistry there is to mathematics.”

 

Arthur, now a freshman at Purdue University studying Mathematics, is passionate about exploring theoretical math—especially Number Theory and Abstract Algebra. He hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in pure mathematics and engage in meaningful research that deepens our understanding of the field.

 

As a MathCON Future Leader, Arthur embodies empathy, kindness, and positivity. He believes great leadership begins with making others feel welcome and valued—an approach that aligns perfectly with MathCON’s mission to make math engaging, inclusive, and inspiring.

 

“MathCON has been one of the biggest reasons behind my passion for mathematics. It felt less like a competition and more like a celebration—a place to freely enjoy math with like-minded peers.”
